Counselling
What is Counselling?
Counselling provides a confidential forum to meet with a trained and experienced professional – either a Counsellor or Psychotherapist – to explore issues which may be creating a sense of stuckness, difficulty or disharmony in our life and to focus on areas that are important to you. Several factors can impact on our general sense of wellbeing, both emotional or physical. Common issues include personal, family and social relationships or issues at work.
The essence of counselling is a relational experience. It provides the opportunity to be respectfully listened to and to focus on issues and concerns which we want to find a way to work through.
Why would I need to see a Counsellor?
Clients come with a range of issues that they want to explore. Common problems we encounter include:
How can Counselling help?
Active+ Therapists and Counsellors, guide and support clients in better understanding themselves. They look at how we relate with others and identify strategies, behaviours and responses which will support meaningful change, allowing us to find our way through the issue.
The link between our emotional and physical wellbeing has been validated by neuroscience and our therapists use this information in our therapeutic work to create wellbeing. It’s not always about a quick fix, and we usually suggest that it might take a number of counselling sessions before clients start to see a difference.
